Aszure Barton is a young and prestigious choreographer from Alberta, Canada. He has collaborated with great artists and companies around the world, including Mikhail Baryshnikov, English National Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Nederlands Dans Theater, National Ballet of Canada, Sydney Dance Company, Houston Ballet, among several others.
His choreographic creations have been presented on some of the most important stages in the world, including at the Palais Garnier (Paris), Mariinsky Theater (Russia), Lincoln Center (NY), Sadler's Wells (London). Aszure is also the creator of the choreography for the Broadway production "Kthe Threepenny Opera" directed by Scott Elliott and performed by stars Cyndi Lauper, Alan Cumming, Jim Dale.
It has been the cover of the important Dance magazine. Named an Ambassador for Canadian Contemporary Dance in 2009.
As a pedagogue, she has collaborated with notable training institutions such as Harvard University, The Julliard School, USC, National Ballet School of Canada, The Bolshoi School, New York University, among others. She was the first resident choreographer for the Baryshnikov Art Center in 2005.
Recipient of the National Arts & Letters Award, presented by the Ministry of Culture of Canada.
